the end is nigh?

27 Oct

It will come as no great shock to anyone who follows this stuff, but apparently the Housing Market Renewal scheme is to be wound up. That will come as cold comfort I’m sure to the people who have lost their homes or are in the process of still fighting for a fair payment for their assets. Two public inquiries will kick off in a fortnight in Bootle, Merseyside, over compulsory purchase orders to make way for new build financed by the HMR scheme, and of course many areas have been left with severe blight – or empty spaces – which now need something doing with them. It will be interesting to see what happens from here.
