Welsh Streets (pro demolition)

Mary Huxham lived for almost 70 years on Powis Street in Toxteth, Liverpool, until moving to a new build property not far away to let the Welsh Streets regeneration go ahead. She believes the buildings are beyond repair and wants them demolished and replaced with better housing – as she says they were meant to be in the 1970s, before those plans were shelved. She has supported the local Housing Market Renewal scheme since the start and is frustrated that opponents who want to save their houses are holding the project up.
